The 5 Tallest NBA Players Right Now – 2023!

Last updated:

A lot of people don’t follow basketball and they’re making a huge mistake by only thinking this sport is for tall people. In the world of basketball, the term “tall” is relative especially as the average player’s height is predicted to get higher.

This means that players well under the six-foot level aren’t unknown. Basketball is a sport for everyone, no matter their height. But, the advantage lies with those who are genetically gifted with height. Especially, if you can ball like some of the athletes listed below.

Here is our list of the 5 Tallest NBA Players Right Now. Enjoy!

  1. Boban Marjanović – 7’4″
  2. Victor Wembanyama- 7’4″
  3. Kristaps Porzingis – 7’3″
  4. Bol Bol – 7’2″
  5. Deandre Ayton – 7’1

5. Deandre Ayton (7 ft 1”/2.16m)

Deandre Ayton – a beast of an athlete is considered one of the tallest players in the NBA. The Footer was picked as the number 1 pick overall in the 2018 NBA draft to the Phoenix Suns. Ayton is on his way to becoming an All-Star, as he has through the roof potential.

Check out his mixtape below and judge for yourself. Standing at 7’1, with a 7’6 wingspan, weighing in at 250. Ayton is a man child – only 21 years old.

Not to mention…Ayton inked a brand deal with Puma. Signed a four year – multimillion dollar deal. Ayton will also be joining former Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III as the new faces of Puma, making it the first time since 1998 the brand signed a player entering the NBA Draft in Vince Carter.

4. Bol Bol (7 ft 2″/ 2.18m)

The son of a game innovator, Manute Bol, who at one point was tied as the tallest player to ever play basketball in the NBA. Bol Bol does not only have NBA Blood but has also inherited his father’s height and talent. Bol Bol played college in the Pac-12 for the Oregon Ducks. After having a jaw-dropping freshman year, Bol Bol slipped in the NBA draft to the 44th pick, in the second round. Picked up by Miami then sent to the Nuggets shortly after.

Bol Bol, standing at a solid 7 foot 3 inches, with a wingspan of 7’8 and weighs 220.

Some of Bol Bol strengths is his length…go figure. His length allows him to be an effective shot blocker but has the anticipation, timing and instincts as a rim protector as well. Shuts down the entire paint with his standing reach, stays down and doesn’t foul. Not the quickest 2nd jump but so tall that he is able to block shots right after he lands anyway.

Don’t believe me ? Watch Bol Bol get busy in the court below. As he currently plays for the Denver Nuggets.

3. Kristaps Porziņģis (7 ft 3″ /2.21m)

Kristaps Porziņģis ties with Boban as the tallest active NBA player. The 23-year-old was the youngest ever player to receive the EuroCup Basketball Rising Star award at 18.

After being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Porzingis has a very, very bright future. At 7’1, Porzingis features an unblockable jump shot with advanced mechanics. Long and lanky, can shot the 3 ball and play outside than inside. KP is the optimal players to stretch out with any defense on any given night.

He’s at his best spotting up, and as he improves as a screener, he could become a deadly threat in the pick-and-pop with his limitless range.

Porzingis’ versatility gets him to the basket in various ways off screens, cuts, driving on closeouts and in transition. He finishes not with the stereotypical European finesse, but rather with uncompromising authority.

2. Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama, born on January 4, 2004, in France, has emerged as one of the most promising young basketball talents in recent years. Standing at an impressive 7 feet tall, Wembanyama’s physical presence on the court is matched by his exceptional skills, particularly in the center position.

His youth career has been marked by standout performances in various leagues, showcasing a versatile skill set that includes shot-blocking, rebounding, and a scoring ability that extends beyond the paint. Even at a young age, he has drawn comparisons to established NBA players like Rudy Gobert, thanks to his defensive prowess.

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Wembanyama had yet to enter professional basketball, but the anticipation surrounding his potential NBA career was palpable. His journey is closely watched by basketball enthusiasts, scouts, and fans, eager to witness the development of this promising young talent on the global basketball stage.

Victor is the real deal. Check the video below and see for yourself

 1. Boban Marjanović (7 ft 3″ /2.21m)

Baban is was the tallest active NBA player as of 2019 and plays the center position for Philadelphia 76ers. Listed at seven-foot-three and 293 pounds, Boban Marjanovic is one of the biggest players in the planet. But he is not your typical giant stiff. Marjanovic has good stamina for someone his size.

His height has contributed to him averaging 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game.
